FIX: Downloading a Form Prompts you to Select a Program to Open the File

Have you downloaded one of our forms only to receive a prompt to Select a program to open the file?  There is an easy fix built in to Dealer Solutions Software:

  1. Go to the very top menu bar and click TOOLS.  
  2. Click RESCAN FORMS  
  3. Click NO when it prompts you to rescan forms.  What this does is reassociates the form program with the file you downloaded.
  4. Now reopen the downloaded for you were having trouble with and it should then work.

This issue usually arises for new software downloaders or after a Windows Update has been done.  If you know how to tell a file to “always open using this program” you can do so.  Assign .DFP file extensions to use the FRMINST.exe program located in your Dealer Solutions Software base folder. (ie. C:\users\public\Dealer Solutions\forminst.exe)
